What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Summer Ambassador
Students set sail alongside a professional crew of Deckhand Educators, expanding their horizons during a nine-day adventure at sea along the New England coast. Participants will learn seamanship and navigation skills, get to know their shipmates, and step outside of their comfort zones—all within a safe and supportive community aboard the National Historic Landmark schooner Roseway.
Day Programs
Day programming aboard Roseway is designed to engage students in applied learning and leadership development and to spark their interest in everything from chemistry and physics to marine biology and maritime history. We make tangible connections between our hands-on lessons, the skills they are designed to cultivate, and the personal values they reflect, and remind students to bring what they learn back to their schools, homes, and communities.
Live-Aboard
While living aboard Roseway, up to 22 students learn how to operate the vessel alongside our crew, build a supportive community of shipmates, and expand on transferable life skills. Students and crew share meals together, assist in the preservation of Roseway, and see their home from a unique perspective...all without the company of their cell phones!
We traditionally work directly with school partners to recruit for these programs and define explicit learning objectives.
