What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The orphaned child is an innocent victim that is underserved by society. These children often begin life as young-adults underequipped to be productive members of society without intervention. These children have a higher probability of homelessness, are more likely to lack a basic education, and experience malnutrition at a higher rate. We believe that the earlier that intervention can occur the more prepared the child will be to enter adulthood to live a healthy and happy life as a productive member of society.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Home-Based Care

Children are welcomed into homes and become part of a family. We have developed projects with multiple homes at House of Faith and House of Hope. We have one additional home called the Kalomo Home where we have rented the home for children to attend secondary school in the city. We also work with situations whereas the extended family can keep these children in their home.

Caregivers

We provide Scholarships to orphaned children that allow these children to attend school and to progress with their education. Typically, these children would not attend school otherwise.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth

We currently feed 851 orphaned children that attend 2 schools in the Aweil area of South Sudan. These meals are provided 5-days per week at lunchtime. For many of these children this meal is the only one they may receive for the day. We have more than 900 additional waiting to enter this program.

Provide washing stations and additional water to children at Fortune Learners Centre in Kayole, Kenya. This initiative will serve 140 vulnerable children.

Caregivers

Partnering in Asia to mobilize the Church to serve orphaned children by providing (6) 1-day workshops in Asia. This effort will include working with Pastors in additional cities as we consider a return in 2021. Our objective will be to build up and deploy the Church in Asia to care for orphaned children in their communities. This will be a local initiative and local Church Leaders will dominate each day with worship, teaching, and practical examples of how the local church is serving in their communities based on the scriptures command to "love your neighbor".

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What Global Orphan Relief (GO!) aims to accomplish is to provide healing and growth for the children we serve; physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We provide for the child what society or the extended family cannot. This gives the child opportunities that would otherwise not be available.

We seek to minimize any negative affect an adult might manifest based on the challenges provided by their upbringing.
