What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Quality Education Program

As part of our Quality Classroom Instruction Program, students from Pre-K through high school are provided education services 8 hours per day from certified teachers. EduNations uses the Sierra Leone government curriculum in all our schools, ensuring that all students are adequately prepared for national exams at the end of each year. In addition, EduNations also provides each student with school supplies, textbooks, and uniforms at the beginning of every school year. We seek to give our students an excellent classroom experience with a variety of resources, setting our schools apart from other schools.

This program seeks to provide free housing, clothing, and meals for senior secondary students aspiring to obtain their senior secondary school graduation certificates. Senior secondary students are provided with dormitory housing for the duration of the school year with each student having their own bed. Common sanitary bathroom facilities are shared in each dormitory, as well as a common living space for socializing, eating, and studying. Students from various villages live in a family setting overseen by a dorm parent. All boarding students are provided with three nutritious meals daily and uniforms at the beginning of the school year.

This program provides social and psychological support for each student to promote balanced mental health, appropriate social skills, and a strong sense of self-awareness and acceptance to aid in their overall learning and development. Students are offered individual guidance and counseling as needed. In addition, campaigns and programs are conducted for students and families to encourage human rights, child advocacy, and a healthy view of self and others. Given the gender discrimination prevalent in such communities, this program has a strong emphasis on advocating for female students and gender equality. EduNations informs, educates, and advocates for the elimination of female genital mutilation practices, participates in events to advocate for female rights, and conducts campaigns about girls rights. In addition, providing free sanitary products and female reproductive education encourages girls to attend school during their menstrual cycle.

This program, in collaboration with partnering organizations, provides accessible, quality healthcare to EduNations students in order to care for their physical needs and enable them to learn at their full potential. Students can access the local medical clinic in the village of Rokassa, or transportation can be provided to community clinics. Clinic services include consultations, surgeries, laboratory testing, and treatment for various kinds of diseases. Emergency care and treatment are also made available for all students.

This program promotes the health and wellness of students, teachers, and local community members by providing access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education. EduNations and collaborating NGOs have created affordable access to clean water for students, teachers, and local community members through digging freshwater wells in each community where EduNations schools exist. In addition, we teach personal hygiene and provide personal hygiene washing stations within the communities where our schools exist. Each of our school compounds is supplied with sanitary latrines for student and teacher use. In addition, clean water is supplied to the clinic in Rokassa and to the senior secondary boarding facilities for bathing, sanitation, and cooking.
