What we aim to solve
ASSIST's mission is based on the conviction that bringing together future world leaders is a crucial step toward promoting understanding and tolerance spanning a world of cultures, racial designations, and religious beliefs.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
ASSIST Scholarship
In the 2019/20 school year, we placed 179 students from 22 countries on scholarship at 83 American independent secondary schools throughout the U.S. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we placed 95 Scholars at 51 schools during the 2020/21 school year.
Orientation
All ASSIST Scholars complete a 4-day Orientation program as a group upon arrival in the United States. The Orientation program introduces the students to key aspects of life at American independent schools, as well as aspects of American culture that may be new and different to them.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
ASSIST is a student exchange organization unlike any other.
The heart of our work is to identify, place, and support world-class students from around the globe at leading American independent secondary schools – all on full or partial scholarships. In doing so, we’re creating a worldwide circle of future leaders—leaders with passion, vision, and deep cross-cultural connections.
Scholars excel during their exchange years virtually without exception. Ninety percent or more earn honors or high honors academic standing during their year. Every Scholar contributes to at least one school extracurricular program, and every student proudly serves as an effective cultural ambassador.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
ASSIST is a U.S.- based nonprofit organization that matches academically talented, multi-lingual international students with American independent secondary schools. During a one-year school stay, an ASSIST scholar-leader serves as a cultural ambassador actively participating in classes and extracurricular activities. Since 1969, 5,385 student scholar-leaders from 52 countries, many underrepresented in independent school populations, have been matched with ASSIST-affiliated schools. This growing, global network connects top scholars with elite American schools and with one another.
