Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

First Step Pregnancy Center's goal is to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies through effective evidence based education, and provide support for women with their pregnancy decisions.

First Step will accomplish these goals by presenting a Sexual Health & Integrity Program in Middle, High School and College classes, which empowers students to make healthy decisions, teaches accurate information on sexual risk avoidance, STD's and pregnancy; and ongoing follow-up and support. In addition, First Step offers free pregnancy testing, ultrasound exams, counseling, parenting classes and other assistance for women with unintended pregnancies. Strategies include 1) contacting all the middle, high school, college and church youth groups in Rutland County to schedule sexual health presentations; 2) Recruiting and training co-presenters, 3) Presentations in schools and groups; 4) Evaluate and improve.

First Step is able to accomplish these goals through the support of individuals, churches and community partnerships.

To better serve clients, First Step purchased a building which allows for extra space for classes, baby boutique, private parking and medical exam room. We also became a medical clinic and now provide free ultrasound exams for clients who are pregnant. We have also added several community partners to our referral network.
