Mission

VYCC is a 501c3 non-profit conservation and education organization with the mission of taking action to build community by working and learning together with the land. VYCC programs operate year-round, throughout Vermont and beyond. We believe that every person, regardless of background, has the ability to work hard, make meaningful contributions to a group, and take responsibility for themselves. We believe youth need opportunities to connect with and appreciate the natural world. We believe that conservation and agricultural work are ideal platforms to teach leadership, interpersonal, and professional skills.

Vermont Youth Conservation Corps

The VYCC is a statewide, year-round, non-profit conservation and education organization, founded in 1985. VYCC's mission is to take action and build community by working and learning together with the land.

VYCC Corps Members work incredibly hard, often in rugged and difficult conditions, supporting the land and communities of our beloved state. Their impact is astounding. They dedicate approximately eighty thousand service hours every year to conservation and agriculture work that strengthens Vermont.

The VYCC experience, of course, is about much more than project outcomes. Meaningful work – outdoors, with peers, away from screens – is transformative for a generation of young adults navigating the challenges of our post-pandemic world. These elements have been timeless for VYCC Corps Members since our beginning in 1985 – working together, outside, on projects that matter to the surrounding community.
