What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
ADRF serves as an important educational and supportive resource to the millions affected by Alzheimer's/Dementia. It does so through programs and projects, including but not limited to:
1. Publishing key materials on its user-friendly website: www.AgelessDesign.org
a. Alzheimer's Daily News, free internet publication and distribution of current news about Alzheimer's disease and dementia, customized to constituency groups:
i. Patients in early stages
ii. Caregivers and their Families
iii. Related professionals who serve the above groups
2. Selectively supporting special projects that help to educate the public, professionals and specifically those affected by Alzheimer's/Dementia. Such projects may include:
3. Funding research and/or production of publications that can serve to enhance the quality of care and the quality of life for people with Alzheimer's/Dementia, their families and caregivers. For example
a. Expanded information resources for professional and family caregivers;
b. Publications that can enhance the lives of Alzheimer's patients, eg. a book that describes examples of therapeutic environments for people with dementia
c. Producing programs in conjunction with other non-profit organizations that help to educate families about: the disease, ways to cope with it, safety, dangers unique to the disease, and strategies to create more Alzheimer's-friendly environments. For example,
d. Assist in the formation of local "lending libraries" of products and resources that can educate families about what to expect with Alzheimer's/Dementia, how to plan for the future, and how to improve the lives of patients. Such access could be invaluable in determining which products or ideas are best suited to a particular situation, at little or no cost to the family;
4. Selectively support or endorse special projects, such as a U.S. Postal Service "Alzheimer's Stamp", that can raise funds for research;
5. Endorse and publicize, through its internet newsletter, information about other programs aimed at educating the public;
6. Produce its own unique seminars or underwrite nationally recognized speakers on Alzheimer's/Dementia at other national and local conferences and workshops.
7. Provide access to the Alzheimer's Daily News through an RSS feed.
8. Provide Alzheimer's Daily News for NPR's Forgetting web site.
