Mission

The Center for Collaborative
Communication co-creates a culture of
collaboration, empowerment, and peace by sharing Compassionate, Nonviolent
Communication [NVC] skills with individuals, families, and organizations. We
grow strong businesses and nonprofits that succeed through change, engaged
social groups that move towards peace, and empowered individuals who honor
their commitments and relationships as well as themselves.

 

Our vision is 20,000
people using NVC to connect across differences in New York City. Through
sharing the skills of NVC, we support people in hearing each other and being
heard. We share transformative communication skills with individuals, families,
groups and organizations in the greater metro New York area, nationally and
beyond, creating a world of abundance, interdependence and peace where the
needs of all beings matter and are held with care.

Immersion Learning Program

Through our proven and popular tri-level immersion program
you can learn all the core skills of NVC plus intermediate and advanced
practices, such as expressing and responding to anger, translating
self-judgment to self-understanding and skillful interruption and pacing of
conversations.

 

Courses are offered in two formats: weekly classes
(90” for six weeks) or weekend format (two days of 7.5 hours). For these
programs, we use Connecting across
Differences (Connor and Killian) as a companion book and workbook; this
text is offered at a special discount for participants at the time of
registering. Participants are also invited to do exercises at home and meet
(via phone or in person) with an “empathy buddy.”

Population(s) Served

Introductory Compassionate, Nonviolent Communication training is offered at little or no fee in the community
to hundreds annually, including at the NY Open Center, the JCC, 92nd St
Y, community gardens, and Park Slope Food Coop, among other locations.

Population(s) Served

Team communication training, mediation, meeting facilitation, and organizational support
for organizations, including corporate entities, member-based groups, and community and education nonprofits. Approximately 30 organizations and groups served each
year;
