Zamorano, Escuela Agricola Panamericana,

aka Zamorano   |   Washington, DC   |  http://www.zamorano.edu

Mission

Zamorano's mission is to provide first-class, integrated, undergraduate education that includes the key aspects of sustainable agricultural production, agribusiness, agroindustry, and socioeconomic development and environment.
Founded in 1942 by the United Fruit Company, Zamorano is now a private, independent center of higher education that provides a demanding and practical education to youths from all segments of Latin American society.
Zamorano immerses students in a multicultural, bilingual and apolitical environment where they are judged, and learn to judge others, on the basis of character and achievement rather than social origin, race or gender. Students develop technical skills as well as personal qualities, values and leadership capabilities.
Through outreach activities, students and faculty: disseminate technologies for sustainable agricultural production; help communities to protect forests and watersheds; work with businesses of all sizes to increase competitiveness.

Bachelors Degree

Zamorano offers a four-year undergraduate degree with programs in:

-Agricultural Science and Production
-Socioeconomic Development and Environment
-Agroindusty (Food technology)
-Agribusiness Development

Approximately 800 students from 20 countries study at Zamorano. The institution?s faculty includes specialists from nearly 20 countries.

As part of learning-by-doing, Zamorano?s students and faculty work closely with farmers, rural businesses and entire communities in the area surrounding campus, as well as elsewhere in Honduras and Latin America in an outreach program unequalled by any other educational institutions in Latin America.

Zamorano is proud of its commitment to educate youths from all walks of life, and works hard with friends from the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia to provide scholarship support to deserving students from financially disadvantaged families. Unfortunately, the demand for financial assistance among promising students from financially disadvantaged families greatly outweighs available resources.

Zamorano?s holistic approach to education results in graduates that are successful in a range of professional careers. Graduates are known for their solid work ethic, practicality, and leadership and problem solving abilities.
