Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
HMEA’s mission is based on the conviction that people with disabilities have the same needs as anyone else – satisfying work, strong relationships and the sense of fulfillment that comes from being a valued member of society. All supports are designed to promote independence, respect, productive employment and civic involvement. Our core values are choice and control, for without them it is not possible to have hopes and dreams for a better future.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
HMEA provides supports to children and adults with significant disabilities and to their families in over 110 communities in southeast, central and eastern Massachusetts. Although the service area is broad, the mission has stayed narrowly focused on those people who face multiple challenges
Our mission is based on the conviction that people with disabilities have the same needs as anyone else – satisfying work, strong relationships and the sense of fulfillment that comes from being a valued member of society. People learn, grow and change through all stages of their lives. Supports reflect and adapt to these changing situations. Listening to people with disabilities and acting on that information is central to our philosophy. HMEA regularly solicits feedback from people receiving supports, people providing supports and community members to measure our success in this area.
