What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Legal Program

De Novo's Legal Program provides free civil legal assistance to clients whose incomes are at or below 125% of the federal poverty level. In response to community needs, De Novo prioritizes services for low-income individuals with the most urgent problems: domestic violence, homelessness/lack of affordable housing, inadequate financial security, and fear of deportation to face torture, persecution, abuse, and possible death in their country of origin. The Center provides services ranging from advice to full representation in complex litigation. De Novo's legal work also includes training and education, collaboration with community partners, writing and distributing publications, and work on public policy and reform issues which affect the lives of many people in the community.

Population(s) Served
Economically disadvantaged people

De Novo's Counseling Program provides affordable mental health services for low income adults who are unable to access counseling by other means, filling a critical gap in services for people with low incomes. The Program is a vital resource for community-based individual, couples and group counseling, as well as forensic psychological evaluations and social work support services. Our Evening Counseling Clinic provides individual appointments and group therapy during high-demand evening hours, and there are no restrictions on number of visits or long wait lists, as with other agencies.
