Our programs

Berkshire Aging and Disability Resource Consortium
No wrong door for information and referral.
Home Care Services
In-home services including homemaker, personal care, laundry, meals, and adult day health as determined by an in-home eligibility assessment of impairment level and need.
Caregiver Support
Support groups and respite services.
Clinical Assessment & Eligibility
Medical screening for Medicaid recipients seeking admission to a nursing home.
Options Counseling
Assist individuals in need of long-term care services to make informed choices about the services and settings that best meet their needs.
Elder Nutrition
Meals on Wheels and congregate meal sites throughout the county as well as nutrition counseling.
Supportive Housing
Includes Adult Family Care, Group Adult Foster Care, Adult Family Care Host
Nursing Home Ombudsmen
Program oversees 15 nursing and rest homes in Berkshire County. State certified volunteers visit each facility at least once a week.
Senior Employment (SCSEP)
Provides job training and placement for individuals age 55 or older with limited financial resources and provides employers with trained, motivated workers.
SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) and Money Management
Free unbiased and up-to-date health insurance information, counseling, and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers.
Money management provides trained, insured and supervised volunteers are matched one-on-one with elders needing assistance with managing household finances.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
It is the goal of Elder Services of Berkshire County, Inc. to help all residents age in the community, preferably in their own homes, as long as is safe for their needs.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
As the state and federally designated Area Agency on Aging and Aging Services Access Provider, ESBC is the thought leader, strategic planner, capacity builder, coalition builder, and go-to non-profit for all aging services in the region.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Elder Services' 100-plus staff members and over 150 volunteers, serve more than 2,500 seniors, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities a year. Elder Services provides a wide variety of services to Berkshire seniors, including Meals on Wheels and Senior Group Meals, Information & Referral, Case Management, Homemaker, Personal Care, Grocery Shopping, Companionship, Laundry Service, Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS), Money Management, Supportive Housing, Health Insurance Counseling (SHINE), Caregiver Services (including respite care, support groups and one-on-one support), Healthy Aging programs, Options Counseling, Nursing Home Screening, Long Term Care Ombudsman program, Adult Family Care, and a Senior Training and Employment Program.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
ESBC is actively participating in, or in many cases leading, collaborations for establishing the Berkshires as both an Age Friendly and Dementia Friendly community, convening a hoarding task force, seeking senior transportation solutions, participating in opioid safety programing, community prevention and identification of elder financial abuse, and many other emerging needs.
