Emergency Department

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center's Emergency Department was built in 1980 to handle 17,000 patient visits annually. As a Level II Trauma Center accredited by the American College of Surgeons and a Certified Stroke Center, the ED has specialized physicians available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. With this depth and breadth of expertise, Lahey can handle injuries to the head, spine, lungs, liver, spleen, bowel and extremities. The planned new, 41,000-square-foot Emergency Department will occupy Level 2 of a 5-level, 155,000 square foot medical pavilion on the southwest corner of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington. The envisioned new ED will endow Lahey with an emergency care capability befitting its national and international reputation for superb patient care. It represents a critical advance in Lahey Hospital & Medical Center's transition from a stand-alone hospital and medical center to the flagship enterprise of Lahey Health.
