Tijuana Builds

For the past 15 years, we've been building homes, clinics, community centers and even a hospice center in the greater Tijuana area. This area has shown a great need and even a greater degree of gratitude for our work. Work that wouldn't be possible without our amazing volunteers and donors.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

One Small House, Inc. maintains the following goals:
1. To identify families in need of decent, safe, adequate housing
2. To arrange for the construction of new homes by fundraising and organizing volunteer construction crews
3. To carry out the construction of new homes in a safe and timely manner
4. To maintain total financial transparency to our many generous donors
5. To operate with little or no overhead expenses, so we can assure our donors that virtually all of their contributions go directly into building homes for the poor

Our strategies include the following:
1. To ensure that recipient families meet all of our criteria of need, land ownership and personal responsibility
2. To ensure that each building project is feasible, both logistically and financially
3. To ensure that our local partners are reliable and trustworthy

One Small House is capable of fundraising for and building small but decent houses for families in need, both in and outside of the US. We are capable of building complete homes in short time periods, depending on the region and local requirements. We are also capable of building community buildings, such as latrines and medical clinics. To fulfill these capabilities, we often work with partners native to the region in which we are building, and rely on their construction and organizational skills where needed.

One Small House, Inc. has built over sixty houses in Mexico, fifteen houses in Haiti, and has aided in the construction of seven in the United States, In every project, the house was awarded to a family desperately in need of a new home. We have measured and will continue to measure our progress by the numbers of families to which we are able to give homes, and the vast improvement of quality of life that this new home brings to each family.
