SHERIFFS MEADOW FOUNDATION

Our operating program emphasizes land conservation and stewardshimaking us the largest private landowner on Martha's Vineyard. We also hold conservation restrictions on over 500 acres. We provide ecological management to help restore and manage wildlife habitat with an emphasis on rare species and natural communities. Our property maintenance activities encourage public enjoyment of the land i.e. walking trails, parking areas, bike racks and scenic overlooks.

We encourage use of our conservation lands as natural laboratories for scientific research and public education. Researchers from Harvard University, Tufts University and other top schools have conducted studies or taught classes at various Sheriff's Meadow Foundation sanctuaries. A number of local schools and other conservation organizations also use our land for field trips and educational activities.
