What we aim to solve
The construction of our cottage in Balboa Park was completed in 2021 and starting in March of this year, thanks to the effort and hard work of our members, we officially open our doors every Saturday and Sunday to proudly show our culture to thousands of visitors who come from all over the world to visit this iconic park.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
New International Cottages Member | House of Peru
The House of Peru in Balboa Park is a dedicated bastion for the promotion, cultivation, exhibition, and celebration of the rich tapestry of Peruvian culture, traditions, values, and heritage.
Cultural and Culinary Art Events
House of Peru features the best of Peru in three major public events at Balboa Park:
1) Ethnic Peruvian Food Fair in May, 400 visitors/year.
2) Lawn Program or Peruvian Independence Day in July, 300 visitors/year.
3) December Nights (Christmas), 350,000 visitors/year.
Hall of Nations Hosting
As part of our mission to promote the Peruvian culture with the community at large, House of Peru has the opportunity to use the Hall of Nations, an historic building shared by the 34 nations that form the House of Pacific Relations (HPR) to promote our beloved Peru. HOP dedicated volunteers joyfully educate and share general information about Peru with the visitors at Balboa Park such as history, tourism, native products. One frequent question from visitors is : "where can I find a Peruvian restaurant?" among others.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Now, we focused on obtaining artifacts and books to show, and when possible, Peruvian food to share with visitors in our cottage. We also continue working to receive donations to cover the monthly expenses to keep open our cottage.
Also, we focused on preparing the young Peruvian population in the area, so they learn about our history and share the love for our Peruvian culture.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We have Fundraisers
We have members who subscribe every year
We have donors who donate money
We do events in Balboa Park to raise money
We have members who work at big companies and contribute by participating in matching programs
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Strong group of Board members
Strong and supportive group of volunteers
Many members supporting the organization
Different skills from different board members
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The number of members of the organization has increased year by year and we continue receiving support and donations from different members. We have a calendar filled with volunteers who come every Saturday and Sunday with their families to host our cottage. They proudly show our culture to the thousands of visitors that come every weekend to visit our cottage.
