Gift of Giving

CCA collects information from food clients with children in October and then coordinates with local churches, businesses and individuals to collect several gifts for each of over 800 children each year. This program relies upon the generosity of the residents of Norwalk and the surrounding communities and is very volunteer intensive.

Population(s) Served

Customer choice food pantry open weekday mornings and one Saturday monthly. Customers get 6 days of food once monthly. Program budget includes $50,000 of food purchased and almost $400,000 of donated food. In the 2009 - 2010 year we will give out over 300,000 meals.

Population(s) Served

2,000 to 3,000 pieces of furniture are distributed annually

Population(s) Served

CCA gives loans of $25 to $500, but usually in the $300 range, to help low income families with utilities and rent to to assist with security deposits. There is a financial education piece that is also required and guidance with bill paying monthly.

Population(s) Served

Each program happens once annually. Coats are collected in the community in October and distributed on a Saturday in November at a central location. Prom dresses are collected in many towns around us and also distributed as above in early April. Both are volunteer intensive and well publicized.
