Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation of the Americas
Education on the value of shade-grown coffee (3% of market share) vs. sun-grown coffee that is detrimental to the environment. Participation on the cerulean warbler task force and partnering with Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative. Planting trees in Appalachia that benefit targeted neotropical migrants of concern.
Southwest Vermont Nature and Environmental Education
Comprehensive integrated curriculum program for all age students served by the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union (Bennington, VT). Created nature trail systems at elementary school sites and middle school. Ongoing Naturalist-in-Training Program that benefits middle and high school students contemplating a career in wildlife biology and the environment.
Afghanistan Creation of Job Opportunities through Reforestation
TFW President is one of five members of a special advisory council to the board of Global Partnership for Afghanistan. Networking with US agencies and non-profits to rebuild the agriculture and land restoration through tree plantings that benefit provincial tribes/individuals. Rebuilding a devastated landscape through on-ground training with trees that provide food, fuel and shelter.
