Mission

Healing the Children Northeast's purpose is to provide free care to children throughout the world receive medical / dental care unavailable to them due to lack of medical and financial resources. We offer 3 basic programs. Domestic / International and Medical Teams Abroad. We also sponsor a scholarship program for high school seniors who plan to go into a medical field position. Since 1985, when we were founded, over 55,000 patients have been served through our programs and the combined efforts of thousands of volunteers throughout the US and abroad. We are one of 15 Chapters nationwide.

Notes from the nonprofit

Without the support of our donors, we would not be able to fulfil the expectations of our three programs, both local and abroad. Your donation, no matter how small, does make an impact of how many children we can help. Thank you.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Our wish is to provide all children throughout the world to have access to medical and dental services which we provide for free. Our travel to other countries in need as well as bringing children here for medical treatment has all been put on hold due to Covid-19. We hope to double up on our trips abroad to provide services to those children we missed during 2020 when travel resumes.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To target more areas both here in the U.S. and abroad where children are in need of medical / dental services. Tp double up on our trips once our country and those abroad open up after the pandemic / vaccinations and it is safe to travel again.

Within the U.S. to get our name out there that we provide free services in our local region and abroad to incorporate more site visits to regions that currently lack services while finding host countries to work with our medical teams. As previously stated, we are hoping to double up on our trips to the sites we travel to and that will also include doubling up on the number of team members who travel with our groups so that we can treat the children who were not able to be seen when our trips were put on hold due to Covid-19.

Locally, creating more awareness in our local area of CT, NY, VT, ME, NH, MA, RI of the services we provide via social media and participating in local events.
Abroad, sending out surgeons to find new site locations. Sending out larger teams to the current sites.

Our Medical Teams Abroad Program added three new sites in 2018: Sucre, Bolivia, a dental team to Santo Antao, Cape Verde Islands, and a training mission to Mekelle, Ethiopia. Mekelle, Ethiopia was repeated in 2019 working with their local University Hospital staff. In 2020 our trips only took place Jan-March and then were put on hold. In 2021 we plan to expand to new sites, Chennai India, also a training mission and a dental team to a new site in Riobamba, Ecuador. All are on hold due to the Corona Virus. Our International Inbound Program has assisted a child in Nairobi and in 2021 we brought in a 5 year old girl, Nagalem, from Ethiopia with a life threatening tumor. Our Domestic Kids Program has provided 3 college bound medical career scholarships, and we provided financial support for a virus related feeding local children program in our town.
