aka HTCNE   |   New Milford, CT   |  http://www.htcne.org

Mission

Healing the Children Northeast's purpose is to provide free care to children throughout the world receive medical / dental care unavailable to them due to lack of medical and financial resources. We offer 3 basic programs. Domestic / International and Medical Teams Abroad. We also sponsor a scholarship program for high school seniors who plan to go into a medical field position. Since 1985, when we were founded, over 55,000 patients have been served through our programs and the combined efforts of thousands of volunteers throughout the US and abroad. We are one of 15 Chapters nationwide.

Notes from the nonprofit

Without the support of our donors, we would not be able to fulfil the expectations of our three programs, both local and abroad. Your donation, no matter how small, does make an impact of how many children we can help. Thank you.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Our wish is to provide all children throughout the world with access to medical and dental services, which we provide for free. Our trips are no longer on hold due to Covid-19. Some of our trip sites have had some unrest so we've had to limit where our teams can travel. We hope to resume next year to our full capacity along with newly added sites. During 2022 we opened our medical treatment / surgeries to victims of the war in Ukraine to treat adults both soldiers and civilians. We hope to send many more teams to train their local doctors procedures in collaboration with several other organizations.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To target more areas both here in the U.S. and abroad where children are in need of medical and dental services.

Within the U.S. to get our name out there that we provide free services abroad, to incorporate more site visits to regions that currently lack services, and also finding new host countries to work with our medical teams.

Creating more awareness in our local area of CT, NY, VT, ME, NH, MA, RI of the services we provide via social media and participating in local events. Abroad, sending out surgeons to find new site locations, along with sending out larger teams to the current sites.

Our Medical Teams Abroad Program took on a new focus in 2022 when we sent a team of surgeons to assist in Ukraine treating various war victims. Last year teams also traveled to sites in Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador providing services for dental care and cleft lip and palate repair. Thus far in 2023, we've sent two teams of surgeons back to the Ukraine, in both Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv. We also have surgical teams traveling to Bolivia, two sites in Colombia, Tanzania and a dental trip planned for Peru.

In 2022, our International Inbound Program assisted two children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, one with a heart condition and one with reconstructive facial surgery. We also provided foreign assistance in Ukraine and helped a child in need of surgery in Ecuador.

In 2022, our Domestic Kids Program provided 3 college bound medical career scholarships, which we provide annually, and we provided financial support for two local children in our town.
