Make TV

Our core program is creation of citizen media from idea to execution as TV content. Everyone who walks through the door has different levels of prior training in video production and storytelling ranging from none to some college credit and aspiring filmmakers. Staff schedules one-on-one time to help each prospective producer reach some level of confidence with the tools and execution of their individual plan. Administration of a 24 x7 play schedule with content ranging in length from 10 seconds to a few hours could keep someone employed full-time. The contracting and curation and schedule plan is handled by volunteers. Underwriting critical data entry support frees up administration to support community programming. We support timely and daily TV program updates with a collaboration with the Record-Journal and agreement with Democracy Now.  Twelve hours a week of predictable data entry ca help immensely. Deploying resources to local gather stories is highly dependent on this core operations function.

Believing that 'Performance Speech' and 'SocialActionArt' the richest kind, WPAA-TV engages artists and filmmakers with the goal of making WPAA-TV a destination for film production, small performances, and interactive arts. Guidelines for film production was adopted in the summer of 2017.  A permanent photography exhibit, 'StreetshotZ' was installed with support from FrameItEasy.com It features photographs by Wallingford resident Charles Buzinsky. The theme aligns with the #wpaatv's mission to represent and serve underserved voices. The exhibit is free. However, nonperishable food donations are encouraged. Masters’ Manna Food Pantry receives the majority of the donations. 100% of the proceeds from the StreetshotZ book sales are used to fund programs helping with housing and food insecurity.

Tell Your Neighbors about It has been expanded and re-branded as Good Enough To Share. Local nonprofits identify video content that aligns with their mission, or local residents 'guarantee' video content, which they do not produce. The content is deemed 'good enough to share' with others in our community. Examples: Spanish language news programs are represented by the Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW), the Wallingford Public Library affiliates with shows interviewing authors like 'Book Lust' out of the library in Seattle Washington and the daily independent news show 'Democracy Now'.

Those participating enter agreements with WPAA as Guarantors. Organizations and community members work with WPAA-TV to acquire programs at no or low cost for redistribution. This very successful program has programs and participants listed here: http://wpaa.tv/good-enough-to-share/
