What we aim to solve

Hungry children cannot learn. Sick children cannot attend school. Therefore, JustWorld doesn't focus on only one area of need, but instead funds partners who are dedicated to a holistic approach to provide students the best opportunities to succeed and break the cycle of poverty.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Los Patojos

Together, JustWorld and Los Patojos have been making a difference in the community of Jocotenango for the past six years. JustWorld finances a medical clinic and community kitchen, and provides the children of Los Patojos with after-school tutoring, scholarships, school supplies, and leadership and cultural development activities such as journalism, break dancing, ballet, and photography classes.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth (0-19 years)

JustWorld partners with Asociacion Compartir to provide a mobile library for children in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This library reaches thousands of children who live too far to attend local schools and brings them books and educational activities such as innovative libraries, a literacy program, science and book fairs, a journalism group, and educational field trips.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth (0-19 years)

For the past ten years, JustWorld has worked with PIO in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to build and fund the operation costs for two Kindergarten - 9th grade schools. These schools, Stung Mean Chey and Borey Keila, provide children living in poverty-stricken communities with certified teachers, educational materials, lunches, health care, and rice allotments for families with students in good attendance.

Population(s) Served
Children and youth (0-19 years)

JustWorld has begun a partnership with StoryBook Treasures to bring its impactful literacy program to students in Belle Glade, Florida. The goal of the program is to close the achievement gap between culturally, linguistically, and economically deprived students and their peers. The program will help children make vital comprehensive reading connections to literature while building a classroom and personal home library collection of books.

Population(s) Served
K-12 (5-19 years)
Economically disadvantaged, low-income, and poor people

Charting impact

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

Education is fundamental, but a hungry child cannot learn and a sick child cannot attend school. Our goal is to help break the cycle of poverty by funding programs which support students' development and in turn create more opportunities for them to help themselves. JustWorld's holistic approach includes funding education, nutrition, health, hygiene, and cultural programs. As a result, students will have the opportunity to support themselves and their families in the long-term and become tomorrow's leaders in their community.

JustWorld's strategy for accomplishing our long-term goals is three-fold: 1. To help more children around the world and to get more people involved to support the organization's efforts. 2. To partner with more organizations in more countries and raise more awareness and funds of the mission. 3. To create and sustain established successful initiatives. We will accomplish this through increasing and improving our fundraising, growth, organizational structure, communications, project management, financial management, workforce development, and strategic planning in order to achieve greater sustainability. We will be able to work harder together to reach our goals and enable our partners to focus on what they do best and become sustainable themselves.

JustWorld strives to operate on a budget that allows the greatest amount of funding to go directly to our partners in order to make the greatest difference in others' lives. We operate out of a donated office space, have a low turnover of staff, continue to receive a substantial amount of in-kind donations, and free advertising opportunities thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters. This vision and support, in turn, has created lasting partnerships. Additionally, the majority of our funding comes from within the equestrian community because of founder's and supporters' networks. We have developed long-term corporate sponsorships with universally recognized brands and maintain partnerships with equestrian events around the world which strengthen our network and help us to develop the support of equestrians and donors within the countries where our projects are located.

JustWorld collects data from our partners on a quarterly basis which include: the number of children served, number of students who graduate and pass their high school entrance exams, number of students who student in college, number of meals served, and number of health examinations. By tracking trends in operations and the impact of funding, we will be able to see which areas are successful and which need additional or less funding. These updates are reported to the Board on a quarterly basis to keep a pulse on the organization and track our progress. Additionally, project trips allow us to meet directly with our partners, witness their programs in person, and bring donors and supporters to see firsthand how their donations are making a difference.

We are proud of the difference our supporters help us to make. Thus far, we have increased the number of students we're supporting in Honduras; our partner in Guatemala has added 7th and 8th grade as well as English classes to its curriculum; we are working with a new organization in Belle Glade, Florida; and we have implemented a membership program to improve cash flow and work towards sustainability. The founders of our projects in Cambodia and Guatemala have been recognized as CNN Top 10 Heroes. These achievements are helping fulfill our goals of “more people, more funding, and more places" so that we can help more children around the world. We look forward to continue making progress and serving more children around the world.
