What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Earn-A-Bike
Participants volunteer 15 hours in support of our community bicycle shop in exchange for a bicycle. The participants learn bicycle mechanics as part of the program, leaving with not only a bike, but the knowledge to take care of their bike.
Rolling Bike Clinic
Volunteers and Staff pack up bike tools, parts, and repair stands onto bicycle trailers, and ride to local low-income neighborhoods, trailer parks, and public parks, and repair bicycles owned by community members for free. We teach the bike owners how to repair their own bikes and how to keep it from happening again.
Bike Fleets
We provide and maintain bicycles for employees of local businesses to use. Some are day use only, some are checked out to visiting employees for 6 months or longer, depending on their needs.
We provide full service, on site maintenance, with a few more heavy duty repairs being done in our shop.
Kids Holiday Bike Giveaway
Nothing is better than seeing a kid get her first bike!
…Unless it’s giving a bike to a low-income child and family. The Kids Holiday Bike Giveaway is Community Cycles’ oldest ongoing event, for more than 12 years!
Our Bike Giveaway is a community event from beginning to end. Throughout the year, Community Cycles takes in hundreds of kids’ bikes from community donations. During the fall season, volunteer mechanics donate their time preparing bikes for the December event. A hundred volunteers and staff come together on the day of the event to distribute 300+ bikes, seeking to make access to bicycles equitable throughout our community. That’s a whole lot of smiles!
