What we aim to solve
Between Manatee and Sarasota Counties in Southwest, Florida, there are over 2000 homeless school children. The housing deficit for low income households is over 15,000 units in the negative. The housing stock for higher than median income level households is over a 5000 unit surplus, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Through the eight extremely low income housing operations Trinity Without Borders has operated since it's beginning in 2003, out of a van, now in 2018 being a non-profit supportive services and affordable housing developer, we have place over 400 homeless families, veterans, unaccompanied minors, individuals and couples with a 95% retention rate of staying housed at 1, 3, and 5 year point-in-time surveys. We are innovative in our housing approach in that we develop our housing with community and municipal guidance, so that we are in step with the desires and guidelines of all concerned.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Destination Assist Veterans (DAV Program)
The DAV program has three components. The first is immediate housing placement and assisting Veterans with obtaining the documentation proving they are Vets, such as DD-214's and their Department of Veteran's Affairs Card. This information is crucial to helping our nation's many brave men and women who have fallen through the cracks and of who so many are homeless, injured and mentally ill.
The second component of DAV is providing these Vets with on the spot food services and supply boxes that include blankets and foods they can eat handily.
The third component is medical wellness. Trinity Without Borders, Inc. provides transportation for Veterans to the Veterans Administration Complex and other Veterans health facilities for services.
FIND (Food Insecure Neighborhood Distribution)
FIND seeks to provide the homeless and needy with neighborhood food distribution. 95% of TWB participants are at 50% and below the area median income.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We are planning to initiate a capital campaign in 2019, to fund the complete build-out of two four bedroom homes with two accessory dwelling units. Our first parcel, recently conveyed to us by Manatee County Florida County Commissioners is located in Palmetto, Florida. This property will be the pilot program Live Learn Earn home-ownership. A homespace by design, that will be inhabited by at least one veteran or veteran family, one unaccompanied/emancipated minor, one professional or retired family or couple and one extremely low income family or individual.
We will accomplish the template for building this type of clustered home-ownership defined by connectivity and support. The blueprint can then be replicated in other locations, for any organizations looking to provide supportive home-ownership.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Engage the municipality in the Live Learn Earn concept.
2. Engage the surrounding communities in conveying their needs for housing and supportive services.
3. Develop a dispersed model of Live Learn Earn clusters
4. Secure the support of representatives
5. Develop the funding initiatives
6. Secure the professionals, i.e. general contractor, architects, etc.
7. Develop plans
8. Obtain permitting
9. Approve applicants
10. Break ground
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have a fundraising and development team in place to raise the capital for these projects.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have operated or provided supportive services for eight locations since our inception, assisting thousands of people in the last fifteen years. We have ourself, as an agency transitioned from operating out of vehicles, to property of our own. In fifteen years, We have only had to evict one resident, and that was in relation to threatening behavior. For us, the highest accomplishment is that track record of giving people the time they need to become self-sufficient and sustainable. What's next, is shortening the time frame it takes for our participants to get to the point of sustainability.
