What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The MY HERO Media Arts Education Program
MY HERO’s Media Arts Educators have brought training in
digital arts and media literacy skills to teachers and students around the
world, in locations as diverse as Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, Senegal, Netherlands,
Slovakia, Russia, China, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Colombia and the United States.
The MY HERO Teacher's Room
MY HERO's Teachers room provides a growing global
network of teachers with access to free, standards-aligned lesson plans, a rich
library of multi-media, and collaboration tools. Over 270,000 teachers visited
this area of the website last year.
Teachers in grades K-12 and universities have used MY HERO’s
curricula in their classrooms to build students’ 21st Century skills, stimulate
character development and engage young people in thinking critically about
media, heroism, personal and cultural values, human rights, and environmental
issues.
The MY HERO International Film Festival
The MY HERO International Film Festival was launched to
celebrate filmmakers and heroes from around the world and to enrich MY HERO’s
ever-growing archive of positive media. The festival is held annually in the
George Lucas building at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Our most recent festival recognized over 150 socially
conscious films by students and professional filmmakers alike.
MY HERO Learning Circles
MY HERO staff mentor teachers and students who take part in
our unique online Learning Circles, in partnership with the International
Education and Resource Network (iEARN.org).
Twice a year, the circles act as virtual
classrooms that enable communication and collaboration with peers around the
world about their unique cultures, countries and heroes. See some of the inspiring

- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
