Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities, Inc

Elmcor’s Positive Ventures program is available to individuals across the five boroughs, living with HIV/AIDS aged 18 and above who fall below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Through participation in the program, individuals are able to take advantage of job placement, pre-employment training, and case management services. Participants also have access to health management workshops

Elmcor’s Senior Services program is available to residents of Community Boards 4 and 5 in Queens aged 60 and above. Program offerings include physical activities, recreational activities, social activities nutrition and health education, as well as the provision of in-home supportive service. For the past 25 years, Elmcor has held “Stay Well” exercise and Dancercise classes led by volunteers who were trained by the Health Promotion Unit of the NYC Department for the Aging. Nutrition programs and meals, exercise activities, walking clubs, brain games, book clubs, recreational and social events as well as special trips and companion services are but a few. Elmcor services for seniors are currently being expanded to include more “Alert & Alive” and recreational activities for a growing number of clients.

Elmcor’s youth programs targets at-risk youth and adults aged 5-21 living in Queens. It provides a platform for positive alternatives to drug use and offers the opportunity for participants to identify academic and career goals through college prep, readiness modules and other targeted programing. Qualified counselors offer evidence-based programs, individual and group counseling, life skills workshops, drug education workshops and support service referrals. Participants are also able to access valuable employment resources which include for internships. STEM, Recreation and After-School programming are provided at Elmcor's Recreation building.
