What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Now, more than ever, the importance of our personal connection to nature has been proven to be beneficial. Our programming is multifaceted. We host teacher workshops that instruct teachers in methods designed to enrich and improve their natural sciences curriculum in the classroom. These workshops are always well attended, and the ratings we receive from the participants are consistently high. Another area of our programming which is particularly effective and popular is our Early Childhood program which began in 1990. However, our ability to conduct necessary programming in the area has been curtailed.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

APEC has begun the process of planning what our nature programs will look like once we are again able to access our center.

We have begun the process of posting virtual nature programs and virtual guided walks using our web site, facebook and other social media.

We are looking to do virtual classrooms that we can bring to schools and other institutions.

We are looking into serial mediums that would help us achieve our goals.

We have a very dedicated staff at APEC and they are doing research and looking into different ways to make this happen.

We have increased our online programming through our web site and social media.

We will be creating videos to help with remote teaching.

Data
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
