QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services using the evidence-based principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to improve their communication, socialization, academic, vocational, and functional skills.

Residential Services

QSAC Residential programs feature both Individualized Residential Alternatives and Intermediate Care Facilities that offer home environments that foster independence, community integration, individualization and productivity.

Each individual residing in a QSAC residence is provided with opportunities to participate in meaningful adult roles and develop social relationships while at the same time emphasizing individual choice. Each resident enjoys various recreational and social activities on a regular basis.

Each resident is also involved in every facet of the home environment, including cooking their own meals, shopping for food and household supplies, and doing regular household chores.
The goal of QSAC's residential programs is to create a nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and a sense of dignity in each of our residents.

QSAC's Day School program provides children 5 to 21 years of age with an appropriate education, implemented in the least restrictive environment. Each student in the QSAC Day School receives individualized programming that is designed and implemented in conjunction with the Committee on Special Education, the student's family, the student's school teacher, therapists, and the Director of the School. Each program is designed according to the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.

The QSAC Day School also provides related services and offers family members the opportunity to take part in Parent Training Workshops and Family Support Groups. Referrals for this program are made on an individual basis with a coordinated effort between QSAC and the Committee on Special Education. Currently, the QSAC Day School has 12 separate classrooms, 11 of which are comprised of 6 children, 1 teacher and 3 teacher assistants (6:1:3) and 1 classroom which is comprised of 8 children, 1 teacher and 3 teacher assistants (8:1:3). The QSAC Day School operates 12 months per year, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:15 AM – 2:45 PM. The QSAC Day Habilitation program is a
person-centered program that helps develop consumer choice and the
skills necessary for individuals to learn to become active and
participating members of their own homes and communities.
Each participant's individual functioning level is continually assessed
and programs and goals are developed that suit every individual's
needs. Participants in the Day Habilitation program work on targeted
goals and behaviors such as adaptive living, communication and food
preparation skills and the elimination of inappropriate behaviors (such
as aggression). Part of each participant's day is spent in the
community where participants develop a more productive role in society.
The Day Habilitation program is open to individuals 21 years of age or
over who are diagnosed with autism or pervasive developmental disorder.
The program operates Monday through Friday, year round, between the
hours of 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Supervised transportation to and from the
program is provided.

The QSAC Early Intervention program is designed to address the behavioral and educational goals of families as outlined in their child’s Individualized Family Service Plan. Referred children are typically diagnosed or deemed at risk for an Autism Spectrum Disorder, but QSAC also accepts referrals of more global developmental delays. Services are designed for children from birth to three years of age and are generally implemented according to the principles of applied behavior analysis. QSAC’s specially trained therapists work one on one with each child in the program. Early Intervention services include initial and ongoing service coordination, special instruction, parent/sibling support groups and parent support groups. Services are typically provided in the families’ home from Monday through Friday, however, weekends are available if needed.

QSAC offers a center-based Preschool program which provides children between the ages of 3 and 5 with an appropriate education in the least restrictive of environment. We have class sizes of 6:1:3, 8:1:2 and 12:1:2. The "appropriateness" of each child's education is determined by the educational and behavioral goals that are outlined in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The pre-school is a full day, 12-month program with small classrooms led by New York State Certified Special Education Teachers. All programmatic instruction at the pre-school is implemented according to the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and related services, such as speech therapy, are also provided as outlined by each child's IEP. Referrals to the pre-school program are made on an individual basis with a coordinated effort between QSAC and the Board of Education's Committee on Preschool Special Education.

In all of our programs, QSAC uses a person-centered approach that seeks to ensure a highly individualized program to best support the individual we are serving. In addition, we are always guided by our values: Mission-Oriented, Results-Driven, Collaborative, and Passionate.

QSAC’s ACCES-VR services focus on supporting individuals with autism and other disabilities with identifying and pursuing their vocational goals. We pride ourselves on providing a personal touch that focuses on an individual’s strengths, interests, abilities, aptitudes, and skills.

All of our ACCES-VR services are personalized to the individual including our evaluation and assessment services. QSAC offers the full range of ACCES-VR services including assessment, job preparation, pre-ETS, job placement, adjunct, and supported employment services.

We offer ACCES-VR services throughout Manhattan, the Bronx, and Queens as well as Nassau and Suffolk counties. We are also able to accept referrals from Staten Island and

QSAC is working to ensure that all children and adults with autism have access to high-quality programs and services that empower them to realize their full potential and achieve greater independence.

QSAC offers programs and services for both children and adults with autism. Programs for children include early intervention, preschool, school, after school, and in-home educational and support services. QSAC's adult programs include supportive living, skill development programs, and in-home services. All of QSAC's programs provide supportive and trained staff, high-impact services, and a commitment to quality.

In support of its direct service programs, QSAC works to be an innovator in the field of developmental disability providers by implementing new technologies to best support the children and adults in our programs. In addition, QSAC's clinical and educational leadership teams regularly embark on research projects that seek to further unlock new and innovative strategies and methodologies for best supporting the learning outcomes of the individuals we serve.

QSAC has more than three decades of experience in supporting children and adults with autism. Today, the organization has a number of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) as well as staff who hold terminal degrees in related fields. QSAC is also a certified provider of continuing education for BCBAs and approved by the New York State Education Department as a sponsor of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE).

QSAC continues to grow as an organization even in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. QSAC is continuing to expand its educational programs for students with autism and has seen significant growth in its workforce development program. The agency has also launched a specialized high school equivalency program to support the long-term life and work goals of people with autism.
