Thousands of New Yorkers are faced with daily challenges, whether in the form of a developmental disability, mental health challenge or addiction. At WellLife Network, our mission is to help every New Yorker be well for life, which is why we offer individualized solutions that enable each person to live healthy, independent and resilient lives.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Behavioral Health
WellLife Network has been a recognized leader since the 1950s in providing a wide variety of personalized behavioral health services to individuals coping with the many challenges brought on by emotional problems and mental illness. Our programs now assist more than 5,500 people each year — helping each individual achieve his or her fullest potential in an environment that values respect, dignity, caring, and integrity.
WellLife Network offers comprehensive behavioral health services, including: psychiatric rehabilitation; case management; consumer self-help; family and peer support; and residential services.
Our service models and clinical interventions are all performance driven with the goal of improving outcomes and reducing costs. Sophisticated data analytics inform our quality and performance improvement initiatives.
All programs are licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health (NYSOMH) or through contracts with other government agencies.
Disabilities
We help people achieve greater independence and reach their life goals. We will work with you and your family to determine your unique needs and help you to navigate through the services and wide range of supports that you will need in order to achieve them.
Our highest priority is providing programs and services that promote personal growth, self-respect and dignity and which value all individuals with developmental disabilities as contributing members of their communities.
Individualized Plans
WellLife Network provides a variety of options so that you, your guardian and family can determine which programs and services best suit your needs, assist you in meeting personal goals, and allow you to live as independently as possible in the community of your choice.
Our options offer the ability to:
• Live at home with your family
• Reside with others in a home of your choice
• Develop social, personal, life and job skills
As an integral part of our programs, WellLife Network welcomes and encourages the involvement of families and caregives—through information sharing, goal setting and ongoing communication.
Our services include:
Residential
The WellLife Network’s group homes and supported apartments, throughout New York City and Long Island, are home to more than 280 adults with developmental and other disabilities. We serve people with varying levels of independence, including those who are medically fragile, aging and/or use wheelchairs. Our knowledgeable, friendly staff supports our residents in leading a lifestyle of dignity and maximum independence in a secure, friendly and nurturing environment.
Day Habilitation
Day Habilitation programs are offered to individuals who live in residential settings, as well as by themselves or with family. These programs include purposeful and meaningful activities and are designed to foster the acquisition of skills, appropriate behavior, greater independence and personal choice.
Advocacy & Family Supports
WellLife Network provides advocacy and support to individuals and their families through our Family Support and Entitlements and Eligibility Services. Individuals and their families may need help in discovering certain resources that allows the individuals we serve the opportunity to fulfill their life goals. With assistance from our Family Support and Services Team, each person’s particular needs, individual strengths and aspirations all help to determine exactly what support services are needed.
WellLife Network programs are licensed by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
Residential
Having a place to call home is one of the most basic human needs. For many, having not only a home but a supportive and nurturing living environment is essential for coping with life’s challenges and achieving a fulfilling life.
WellLife Network’s state-of-the-art and innovative housing programs and support services, located throughout New York City and Long Island, offer supportive environments to more than 1,200 individuals and families with mental illness, developmental disabilities/intellectual disabilities, those who are seniors and formerly homeless individuals. Our residential offerings include, houses, apartments, and mixed use dwellings.
WellLife Network’s housing promotes living with dignity. Building upon the strengths and preferences of each individual we encourage and support wellness, self-determination and recovery.
There are two major areas in the Residential and Housing Services Division:

Care Management
Navigating the health care and social service systems can be challenging for clients with complex chronic conditions. A significant percentage of Medicaid dollars are spent paying for inpatient care for this segment of the Medicaid population. Appropriately accessing and managing services for these clients in the community, through improved care coordination and service integration between providers, is critical to managing health care costs and improving health outcomes for this population.
The WellLife Network is a large scale partner with insurance companies, bringing our clinical expertise, service delivery network and care management capacity necessary to achieve the triple aim of improved care, better outcomes and reduced costs. It is a service delivery system that:

Expedites access to an integrated network of healthcare and social service supports
Utilizes client engagement and motivation within a whole health orientation to maximize effective disease management strategies

Addiction & Recovery Services
Thousands of individuals coping from addiction to alcohol and other forms of substance abuse and their family members have been helped since the WellLife Network (formerly PSCH-Pederson Krag) opened on Long Island in 1957.
The WellLife Network understands addiction as a progressive and pervasive disease that can affect every aspect of a person’s life. We provide person-centered treatment services to support individuals and/or their significant others on their path to recovery and wellness. We use clinical and medication supported modalities offered at a reasonable cost. At WellLife Network, we believe recovery is attainable, sustainable and maintainable.
Our Approach
The Addiction & Recovery Services (ARS) Department is dedicated to the prevention, education and treatment of substance use disorders. Our primary focus is arresting the symptoms of the disease of addiction/substance use disorder through treatment of all those affected by it, as well as the development of community awareness through education. Our outreach programs and services are developed in response to the changing needs of the community and are offered in three community-based locations: Wyandanch, Smithtown and Huntington. The programs are licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
Chemical Dependency Prevention
Chemical Dependency Prevention is a community-based education and prevention program using evidenced-based practices that may be provided through classroom education, workshops, group discussions and other events, including Naloxone training.
Children & Family Services
It's difficult to be diagnosed with a serious emotional disturbance. It is even more difficult when it is your child who has been diagnosed with this disease. When a child is living with a serious mental illness, the whole family may be affected. Parents sometimes feel shame, anger and very often despair.
Serious mental illness is not the result of bad parenting and is very often biological in nature. Keeping open lines of communication amongst all family members is vital for a healthy family unit. WellLife Network has helped thousands of families regain their sense of unity for more than four decades.
How We Help Families and Children
The goal of WellLife Network Family and Children’s Community-Based Programs is to assist children and youth with serious social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges in developing coping skills, become more resistant to crisis and gain greater independence through a continuum of services. These services include: care coordination, crisis intervention, skill building, family education and support and respite care. These services have the goal of helping children and adolescents cope with life’s challenges and assist their families in supporting them.
Community Awareness & Education
The WellLife Network provides training/workshop opportunities to support the development of community connection, inter-agency and internal collaboration, basic and advanced assessment and intervention skills. These workshops are custom designed for community stakeholders, clinical/non-clinical staff, educators, families, students, and other concerned citizens.

Community Care Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) LiveWell+
WellLife Network’s LiveWell+ is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. LiveWell+ provides comprehensive, holistic outpatient services for substance use disorders and behavioral health issues.
These services are targeted for residents of Suffolk County Long Island.
WellLife Network’s LiveWell+ provides quality care patient-centered treatment to adolescents and children with serious emotional disorders, adults, and veterans and their families. Compassionate staff will consider each participant's needs, strengths, culture, and other aspects of life in the community to provide recovery-oriented care.
Participants will receive same-day access and the highest quality of care available, incorporating proven, effective treatment for substance use and mental health disorders. CCBHC offers services that emphasize recovery, wellness, trauma-informed care, and physical-behavioral health integration.
Article 31 Mental Health Clinic
WellLife Network is a unique behavioral healthcare setting certified through New York State Office of Mental Health as an Article 31 clinic. We are a multidisciplinary, multicultural organization whose mission is to provide person-centered care to adults with mental health challenges and numerous healthcare needs.
Clinicians at WellLife Network are licensed to ensure the highest quality of behavioral health care, knowledge of evidence-based practices, and diagnostic training.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
WellLife Network is working toward achieving wellness and independence for every New Yorker who is faced with a developmental disability, mental health challenge or addiction.
In March of 2020 the U.S. declared a state of emergency over the COVID-19 virus to control its spread and more effectively treat those affected.
WellLife Network is fully committed to the safety and well-being of every individual or family member who seeks our help through our network of services. A team of our leadership, administration and emergency management experts are meeting regularly to ensure that WellLife Network can continue to operate in case of any major regional spread of the virus.
WellLife Network’s executive staff is in regular touch with the federal, state and local health authorities that are managing the virus outbreak, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the NY State Office of Mental Health (OMH), the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the NY State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). We are actively monitoring all developments, globally and here at home.
We are providing personal protection equipment to all staff who have direct contact with the individuals under our care. We have increased our electronic communication with our staff on a daily basis on any state, local or federally mandated updates and have instituted "Zoom" town meetings and other forms of staff feedback. We have a heightened sense of security around all of our residence and restrict visitors.
We have also notified the community about webinars we are conducted for individuals who need assistance with the added stressors that COVID-19 creates.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
WellLife Network has served more than one million New Yorkers since 1957. Today, WellLife Network is one of the region's most diversified health and human services agencies. With our extensive network of behavioral health, family, developmental disabilities, rehabilitation, vocational training, youth, residential and community education and health awareness services, we assist more than 25,000 individuals and families each year.
WellLife Network is committed to being the provider of choice, known for life-changing and outcome-driven services. We help people achieve their health and life goals through an integrated delivery network that assists individuals in navigating the services and wide array of support they need to be well for life.
To its mission of assisting New Yorkers to heal, recover and become more independent in the community, WellLife Network brings a core set of values – compassion and care alongside a commitment to quality, efficiency, fiscal responsibility and accountability. These values drive our ever expanding network of technologies and innovative solutions that lead to positive outcomes in the community.
WellLife Network works closely with business, government and the voluntary and philanthropic communities to develop innovative programs that meet the needs of our community. Our programs are licensed and approved for service by numerous governmental organizations, including the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) , the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Today, with an annual operating budget of $119 million, a workforce of 1,800 staff, interns and volunteers, and an affiliate subsidiary company, WellLife Network delivers critical services in the areas of behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, housing, co-occurring substance abuse behaviors, family support, vocational training, and care management. These services meet the pressing needs of more than 25,000 individuals and families annually, some 2,500 New Yorkers every single day. A culture of caring, best practices models, a spirit of innovation, and a commitment to measuring results and producing a high return on investment drive our work. A key element to our successful growth is our focus on technology, financial viability, and quality assurance – critical infrastructure supports that enable WellLife Network to deliver services with cost-efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and accountability in a manner that mirrors the standards of a for-profit business enterprise.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
To date, WellLife Network has helped more than one million New Yorkers achieve independence and wellbeing. As one of the region's leading health and human services agencies, we remain committed to the wellness of New faced with disabilities, mental health challenges and addiction, which is why we are taking steps to implement in 2023 an ambitious 3-year strategic plan that will lead to the program expansions needed to serve tens of thousands more each year. Those expansions include providing greater access to affordable housing, food pantries, addiction recovery centers, children and family services and mental health and developmental disability services.
