Mission Statement

Crime Victims Center. Inc. is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse, rape, and family violence, and the provision of support services to victims of violent crime, elderly, minor, and disabled victims of all crime. Crime Victims Center, Inc. is committed to informing victims of their rights, involving them in the decision making process, securing crime victim compensation to which they are entitled, and treating every victim with respect and dignity. We are dedicated to serving individuals, families, and communities impacted by crime, and working with stakeholders on programs to achieve our mutual goal of victim restoration and crime prevention.

Sex Offender Management Program

Parents for Megan's Law and the Crime Victims Center has been contracted by Suffolk County under the Community Protection Act to conduct in person address verifications of Registered Sex Offenders residing in Suffolk County. The agency also maintains a website and toll-free hotline where members of the community may report alleged violations by registered sex offenders. All information is forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency through the Sex Offender Registration Tips (SORT) Program.

BIO

Laura A. Ahearn C.S.W. is the Executive Director of Parents For Megan's Law. Laura has a MSW from the State University of Stony Brook where she attended as a Turner Fellow. In May of 2000, Laura was given a Women of Distinction award by the NY State Senate for the work she had done to improve Megan's Law in NY State.
