What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

CPR/AED & First Aid Training

Through ongoing outreach and training activity, Training For Life was recognized as non-profit 501c3 organization and earned the distinction of becoming an American Heart Association (AHA) Community Training Center in 2005.

We provide Training Center Services to nearly 100 American Heart Association Instructors, issuing thousands of course credentials each year; and ultimately responsible for training more than a million people in various forms of emergency preparedness in our 20+ years and are now also offering American Red Cross courses and services as well.

Our mission statement is: "Empowerment through Education & Training, Thereby Increasing the Quantity & Quality of Life"

Population(s) Served

Veterans of the United States Military are a national treasure; protecting their lives is the duty of a grateful nation and the least that can be done to demonstrate gratitude for their selfless service. The HeartSafe Heroes program seeks to protect our treasured Veterans by making an AED and CPR/AED training available to locations they frequent, at no cost, i.e. American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Posts and military museums.

HeartSafe Heroes works to meet the veteran where they are, making locations frequented by, or dedicated to, the Veteran HeartSafe, by placing, in accordance with local laws, one or more Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and providing training in CPR and use of the life saving devices.

To date, we have helped make the USS Intrepid and USS Edson museums HeartSafe and are currently working nationally with several Legion and VFW Posts to do the same.

Population(s) Served

Native Americans suffer deaths from Heart disease (#1 cause) and Stroke (6th leading cause) disproportionately more than any other racial group in United States of America; 20 & 16% above average respectively. Members of the Nations also succumb to these causes of death at younger ages than the rest of the US population; 36% of those who die from these causes do so before the age of 65.

Documented high rates of diabetes, obesity, and alcohol & tobacco consumption contribute to the above mortality statistics, at worst; and, at best, can result in deceased quality of life.

We are pleased to announce our collaboration with the Lakota Well Being Project to create Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) programs on Reservations across North America, placing AEDs and developing AHA Instructors able to conduct ongoing training in CPR/AED and First Aid, with self-sufficiency, for many years to come.
