What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Since 1996, the Ronald McDonald House® in Fort Myers has welcomed thousands of families from Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties while their children are undergoing medical treatment. Our “home-away-from-home” means a great deal to those we serve. Our family-centered programs make a difference by improving the clinical outcomes and experience for the children and their families. Our support efforts were further enhanced with the addition of a Ronald McDonald Family Room® in the new Golisano Children’s Hospital. There, families can grab a quick snack or just close their eyes for a few minutes without having to be far from their child’s bedside. Ronald McDonald House Charities also serves children far beyond the hospital walls. Through our partnerships with Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida, and Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® brings medical and dental services to thousands of children in Southwest Florida.

RMHC thrives on community parterships! We provide stability and vital resources to families through the Charities' core programs: 1) Ronald McDonald House provides a “home-away-from-home" for families with hospitalized children. RMH serves children and families from Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties, Florida. 2) In May 2017, a Ronald McDonald Family Room opened inside Golisano Children's Hospital. Families of hospitalized children use this space to rest and re-group while being just minutes away from their child's bedside. 3) In partnership with Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile provides medical and dental screenings, treatment and sealants to underserved areas of Collier County and monthly autism screenings in Lee County. In partnership with Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida, a second Care Mobile arrived in December 2017 to provide dental screenings, treatment and sealants to children in Lee County.

In 1996, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Southwest Florida opened its doors in Fort Myers to offer a" home-away-from home" to families of seriously ill children. Since then, services have expanded to include the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program, RMHC Scholars Program, a community Grants Program, and a Ronald McDonald Family Room located inside Golisano Children's Hospital.
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a mobile unit that annually provides much-needed medical and dental screenings and treatment to more than 3,000 underserved children in Collier County. 40% of the children receiving services are uninsured. RMHC took delivery of a much needed second Ronald McDonald Care Mobile to provide medical and dental treatment to underserved children in Lee, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties.
A House Expansion Task Force was established in 2018 to explore the feasibility of adding up to six additional bedrooms to the Ronald McDonald House for a total of 12 bedrooms.
