What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Youth Soccer Program
Our after-school soccer program engages approximately 300 youth each year as players, referees and coaches. The soccer program is year-round; indoor during the winter and outdoor during the summer months.
Social Justice Leadership Institute
The Social Justice Leadership Institute (SJLI) is a youth leadership development program for students 5th thru 12th grade. Participants meet on Saturday mornings at Richards Career Academy H.S. in the Back of the Yards.
The program empowers youth to be active in their own educational journeys and discover and pursue their passions and dreams by providing them with training, mentors, access to community resources, information about personal development, and opportunities to apply their skills to real life issues.
Arts Program
The arts program strengthens community unity and pride by bringing youth together to create and enjoy art. The program allows youth the opportunity to express themselves through art and develop their social skills.
Everyone plays a crucial role in the creation of the artworks, which are murals in public places that depict positive and uplifting images and messages. Youth work as a team and collaborate on the design and messaging of the art piece. The youth paint and socialize with their peers, volunteers and community members.
Additionally, by participating in the arts program, youth learn the importance of a clean and safe environment by helping in the beautification of the neighborhood. The youth help sweep and pick up litter around the art space and cover up any gang-related writing and symbols on the walls.
Parent Leadership Collaborative
The Parent Leadership Collaborative creates opportunities for community members, particularly parents, to learn, develop themselves, contribute to their communities, and more effectively support their children.
This collaborative is led by the work of the Peace and Safety Committee (Comité de Salud y Paz), which organizes wellness activities for adult residents and promotes a safe and peaceful community through proactive strategies.
