Mission

Founded in 1900, the College Board is a not-for-profit membership association composed of almost 6,000 schools, colleges, universities and other educational organizations, driven by a single, bold goal: to guarantee every student the opportunity to prepare for, enroll in and graduate from college. Each year it serves seven million students and parents, 23,000 high schools and 3,800 colleges through innovative programs in curriculum, assessments, school and district reform, support for educators, college planning and public policy. As a leading national advocate and resource for excellence and equity in education, the College Board works to overcome barriers that prevent students from reaching their full educational potential. The College Board collaborates with foundations, corporations, the federal government and philanthropists to achieve the highest possible impact on college preparation, access and success.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

College Readiness; College Connection and Success; & Advocacy

The College Board is uniquely positioned to respond to the demands of a complex, rapidly evolving educational landscape — making critical connections between educators, policymakers, parents, students and the community at large.

The College Board believes that an investment in education is an investment in the future. From our earliest days, we have devoted ourselves to educational opportunity and achievement. We have championed innovation, equity and excellence for generations of students. We are advocates for children and parents; we empower teachers and educators; and we are a strong presence in thousands of schools and communities across the country.

Our work falls broadly into three categories: College Readiness, College Connection and Success, and Advocacy.
