What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Children are in foster care or in detention facilities in the U.S. but may have family members able to care for them, and provide a safe home in other countries . ISS-USA makes it possible to secure the information and services needed in order to place children with their families outside of the U.S. Worried about how a child is doing overseas? No problem, ISS-USA can follow up and make sure that the child is safe and happy no matter where they are, inside or outside the U.S. with expert partners in 140 countries around the globe.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

International Social Service seeks to mobilize a domestic and international network of legal and social work professionals to efficiently connect vulnerable children, adults and families separated by international borders to the services and support they need. Through case management, technical assistance, and collaboration with international partners, we connect children to families across borders.

We develop relationships with state and local child welfare agencies, collaborate with partners in 140 countries around the world, and rely on our dedicated staff to focus on the best interest of the child in each unique case.

Our organization's passionate staff of twenty focuses on coordinating the exchange of vital information between countries so those entrusted with the care and protection of children can make informed decisions as to where and with whom a child should live. Our organization also relies on our network partners and colleagues around the world to be the experts within their own countries, advise us on what is possible and find the services or information necessary so a child may be reunited with a family if at all possible.

We have been able to serve thousands of vulnerable children and families across borders over the past few years, but we hope to reach even more at-risk groups in the future. We seek to establish partnerships with additional contacts overseas and expand our reach to additional geographic regions. Our annual report for 2017 is on our website.
