Distribution of Films by and About Women
Women Make Movies primary program is our Distribution Service. Our collection contains almost 700 films by and about women which is uniquely curated with our mission of increasing the visibility of women's films and videos, with a specific emphasis on representing women of color and experiences from diverse cultural backgrounds and those most underrepresented and misrepresented by mainstream media. Films from WMM are used by thousands of educational, cultural and community groups worldwide to education, empower and inspire about the changing role of women and issues of critical importance about and to women.
WMM Production Assistance Program
The Women Make Movies Production Assistance Program was established in 1988 to develop and support women producing independent media. We accelerate film production through a tailored program offering professional development, nonprofit tax-exempt status, consultations, and workshops, all based on industry expertise and supported by our funder connections. We help women producers and directors from concept through completion and outreach with their award winning high impact independent films.
