Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Child Nutrition
Children who are hungry have a lower attention span, display aggression, tardiness to school and become sick and hospitalized. The Child Nutrition program is to provide a direct and immediate way to reduce child hunger and improve health and educational outcomes. Bread for the World needs Congress to build on the presidents request of $1 billion per year in new resources.
1,000 Days
Bread for the World is supporting the "1,000 Days: Change a Life, Change the Future" event organized by Hillary Clinton and Irish Foreign Minister, Michael Martin. The even is to educate people about the importance of good nutrition for mothers and children during the crucial 1,000 day window, a period beginning with a woman's pregnancy and ends with her child's second birthday.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Bread's goal is to help end hunger by 2030. It believes that everyone must play a part in ending hunger, especially our federal government. We work to change the policies and conditions that allow hunger to persist. Bread seeks long-term solutions to hunger and advocates on legislation that addresses the root causes of hunger.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We have a track record of winning bipartisan legislation that helps hungry people feed their families. We are successful because our grassroots network of members and activists works in concert with national denominations, networks, and organizations supported by Bread's staff in Washington, D.C., and around the country.
