What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Global Classroom

Annually, Global Classroom works with over 500 K-12 students throughout the New York-area to create global citizens through interactive workshops that engage students through meaningful intercultural exchange. The program, which began in 1985, brings Fulbright grantees and international university students - Global Guides - into New York City-area schools and uses a pedagogy deeply rooted in the theory and ideals of intercultural education. All workshops are aligned with Common Core Learning Standards and provide opportunities for all students to reach their full potential through 21st-century skills development.

Students

Each year, One To World serves over 3000 international students and visiting Fulbright grantees from over 140 countries through face-to-face programs with local residents meant to enrich the international students' experience in New York and broaden their understanding of contemporary life and culture in the United States. This includes programs open to our entire community such as homestay experiences (a culturally immersive experience for all participants - Americans and international students), neighborhood visits, cultural engagement/community service (e.g., concerts, sporting events, gardening, etc.) and a series of supports including job shadowing, employment workshops, and conferences, and entrepreneurship panels.

We also develop programs specifically designed for Fulbright grantees such as Conversations with World Leaders (an opportunity for Fulbright grantees to meet experts in their field of study).
