A-HOME

Since 1985 A-HOME has purchased, rehabbed and maintained supportive affordable properties. We offer a range of possible housing solutions, from apartments to shared housing. Many of A-HOME’s residents are impacted with long-term chronic health diagnosis, others with the health issues that are associated with aging and homelessness.

Our case managers provide support of resident’s goals and needs. Staff works closely with residents and has extensive experience and knowledge of available services and benefits.  A strong volunteer program, led by the A-HOME Coalition of faith and civic organizations, has been active since A-HOME’s incorporation.

A-HOME is located in the neighborhoods, towns and villages of northern Westchester. Our small-scale properties stand in contrast to large apartment buildings commonly created for affordable housing or senior housing. Our most common property is a rehabilitated single-family home, shared living for older adults and adults with a disability.

This permanent, supportive housing model is recognized as a viable solution to homelessness. While case managers work closely with residents, we do not have staff at the houses full-time or overnight. When applying to A-HOME applicants must have skills in independent living. Individuals make A-HOME their home and many live at A-HOME independently for years. Services are increased to correspond to resident need.
