THE CHELSEA FUND/PEOPLE BEFORE PROFITS EDUCATION FUND EXISTS TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE PEACE, DEMOCRACY AND WORKERS' RIGHTS. WE AIM TO PARTNER WITH EXISTING COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND COALITIONS TO DEVELOP ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING THAT FOSTERS A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SOCIETY TODAY, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, NEW INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS, AND STRONGER, MORE FOCUSED ORGANIZATIONS.

GRANT TO THE WORKERS EDUCATION SOCIETY THE GRANT TO THE WORKERS EDUCATION SOCIETY SERVES TO SUPPORT THEIR EXCELLENT WORK IN MAINTAINING A COMMUNITY LIBRARY, IN SUPPORT OF THEIR WORK EDUCATING COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS WHEN FACING UTILITY SHUT OFFS,EVICTIONS, UNEMPLOYMENT AND HUNGER, AND IN SUPPORTING A VARIETY OF OTHER COMMUNITY EDUCATION ACTIVITIES.

SCHOOL PROJECT: THE LITTLE RED SCHOOLHOUSE TOOK PLACE IN NEW YORK CITY FROM JULY 23 TO AUGUST 1, 2021. THERE WERE TWO CLASSES EACH DAY RANGING IN TOPIC FROM WOMEN'S EQUALITY AND THE FIGHT AGAINST RACISM TO LGBTQ RIGHTS AND THE ENVIRONMENT. THERE WERE EDUCATIONAL MOVIE NIGHTS, WALKING TOURS, AND READ/STUDY HOURS AS WELL AS FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP FOR STUDENTS TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER. LODGING WAS PROVIDED AS WELL. TRAINING LEADERSHIP COLLECTIVE - THIS WAS A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL PROJECTS HELD VIRTUALLY, CONCERNING A DEEPER DIVE INTO THE EXAMINATION OF THE THEORY OF SOCIAL CHANGE, THE US WORKING CLASS, AND THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF CONCRETE STRUGGLES OF INTEREST TO THE WORKING CLASS. DISCUSSION SESSIONS WERE HELD MONTHLY. IN ADDITION, PARTICIPANTS TURNED THEIR WORK INTO ARTICLES AND PRESENTATIONS FOR LARGER AUDIENCES.
