Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter has a three pronged mission to provide compassionate care to those diagnosed with ALS and their families, fund cutting edge research to find a treatment and cure, and advocate on behalf of our patients.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Greater New York Chapter has a network of donors and supporters that help make it possible to achieve our goal of providing care, funding research, and advocating on Capitol Hill.
Our events and walk team have grown the largest Walk to Defeat ALS program in the nation raising more than $2 million a year.
The Greater New York Chapter also hosts a yearly Lou Gehrig Sports Awards Dinner which since its inception has raised nearly $20 million towards our mission.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Greater New York Chapter has a team of social workers, nurses, and Assistive Technology experts who provide our patients and families with the best care. We also sponsor 5 ALS clinics where our patients are surrounded by a team of doctors and nurses who specialize in Lou Gehrig's disease.
Our team of lobbyists every year take on Capitol Hill for advocacy week on behalf of the ALS Association and our patients.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
There is still no cure for ALS. Our fight continues until ALS is no longer a death sentence.
