What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Going Open!
In late 2018, the Green Map System went "open source" to address the urgency of climate change. By then, our network included 990 locally-led Green Map projects worldwide. 1,000+ Green Maps have been published, in print and online!
Our tools, icons and exciting new mapping platform are free for most users. Now, our focus is on more collaboration and innovation. Much is underway as a result, including the versatile open mapping platform – see our new website at GreenMap.org and follow our progress.
Our Mapping Platform
Open Green Map: Our new platform has terrific features and nearly 100 locally made Green Maps! See it at new.OpenGreenMap.org = it has great data sharing capabilities!! Originally launched in June 2009, 500 locally made Green Maps were published on our first 'social mapping' platform (and all its data is on the new platform) . With tools for youth and grassroots users, mobile phone versions, widgets and other map sharing and social networking tools, people in 40 countries have used OGM.
Youth Engagement
Our youth tools have been in continual development since 1998, and as you can see at http://GreenMap.org/youth, children in 20 countries have utilized them. With assessments underway and multiple demands and requests, we plan to increase youth capacity to analyze, chart and draw attention to their community's vital environmental, climate and social needs with scalable, adaptable and interactive resources. Now, all our tools are free to use, and we're happy to help you get started for free as well!
Social Entrepreneurship & CSR
Now that we are an open source organization, we are taking Social Entrepreneurship to the next level! Especially during the Pandemic, this is really helping people stay engaged locally for positive change.
