Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Though based in Louisiana, Sundown is now expanding into Texas (Baytown & Cleveland) where, in certain areas, there are no spay&neuter clinics, no rescues with extra room, and no Animal Control available. Nothing! DOgs are dead on the side of the road, babies hiding beneath them for shelter, broken limbs, fleas & ticks, heartworms, etc. We are urgently trying to provide daily food while we quickly work with local vets to implement spay&neuter programs and EMR care so these animals can be properly treated and adopted into loving homes. We are now gathering committees to get this done.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Assisted Living - Geriatric Retirement Program
- Helps pet owners by assisting with the care of geriatrics in order to allow the continuation of life with the best of care.
Wildlife Education
Educates Louisiana residents in the pros and cons of wildlife, including the enormous part they play on our ecosystems and how communities can implement better forms of cohabitation among them.
TNR
Trap, Neuter, & Return is a much-needed community program that helps to prevent numerous, continued unwanted pregnancies in stray animal populations.
EMR Transport
Sundown EMR Units quickly arrive at accident scenes to transport injured pets to the nearest vet or emergency clinic.
Exhibitor
We provide numerous educational classes that assist our community with the goal of better animal welfare. Classes are designed to educate by teaching responsibility, trust, compassion, respect, patience, empathy, bereavement, social skills, loyalty, self-esteem, and motivation.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We are looking to implement permanent spay & neuter programs, feeding programs, shelter sites, and adoptions to keep the overpopulation in these communities under better control.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Bringing in daily food to address starvation.
2. Working with local vets to implement much-needed spay&neuter programs.
3. Bringing in doghouses for temporary shelter from elements.
4. Providing proper vaccines.
5. Adopting into permanent homes.
We are already utilizing these strategies in Louisiana and are experiencing good success.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our organization is fully staffed with highly qualified animal caregivers and business owners/executives who have decades of experience and skill under their belts. Our foundation is also certified in Nature Conservation, WIldlife Management, & Zoology.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Within the last several months alone, we have provided food and shelter to countless homeless animals, provided spay&neuters, and have placed many in permanent new homes, removing them from a horrible life on the streets.
With round-the-clock volunteers, expert business leaders on the Board, growing support in the field, we continue to set and meet the goals required by our foundation each year.
