Mission

The Victor E. Perley Fund provides musical education to underprivileged children in New York City by means of the Perley Children’s Choir, with a professional choirmaster and 40 choristers ranging in age from eight to 13 years. The goal is to give these students musical skills and a history of singing in a choir in order to obtain college scholarships when they come of age. The children are highly motivated by attending other choir performances, theatre performances, and participating in rustic outings centered around the Perley Home, located on Long Island.

Perley Choir

The Victor E. Perley Fund has served underprivileged children on the West Side since its founding in 1961. It currently sponsors the Perley Children’s Choir, which is comprised of 40 children from eight to 13 years. The choir practices twice weekly with a professional choirmaster at the Church of the Ascension on West 107th Street in New York City and makes public appearances. In addition, the choristers go to the theatre and attend performances of other choirs. They also partake in country retreats at the Perley House on Long Island, which includes visits to area beaches and trips to local areas of interest, which all serve as motivational tools and encourage new membershithe children develop commitment and self-esteem, plus develop the musical skills needed for application for college scholarship. They will have had many years’ experience singing in a professionally conducted choir.
