Medical Services at Vassar Brothers Medical Center

The Heart Hospital at Vassar Brothers Medical Center provides comprehensive care and treatment of cardiovascular disease, from diagnosis to rehabilitation.

We've brought together all the necessary emotional and intellectual components - the attention and care, the experience and technology - to deliver a unified plan for your recovery.

The Heart Hospital is led by a team of board-certified cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, trained at the world's most prestigious medical institutions and practicing under the highest standards and medical protocols.

The support staff includes cardiac and critical care nurses, nutrition specialists and physical therapists, each prepared to participate in your diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. And every stage of treatment is carefully coordinated with your primary care provider as part of an integrated health program.

The Heart Hospital offers a growing array of cardiology services, from testing and diagnosis to the latest, minimally invasive treatments. The region's top cardiologists, working in conjunction with the Heart Hospital, perform these procedures in their offices or at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

In addition to cardiology services, Vassar Brothers Medical Center also provides cardiac surgery. Cardiac and Surgery Services are headed by a nationally recognized cardiothoracic surgeon and a staff of medical professionals selected for their experience and qualifications in cardiac care. These are the people who know hearts best, and they chose Vassar Brothers Medical Center because of our commitment to both quality care and progressive treatment options.

The Heart Hospital features state-of-the-art support facilities, including a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and fully equipped suites for cardiac surgery and angioplasty. The dedicated chest pain emergency room features eight monitored beds and provides 24-hour urgent care for cardiac patients.

The Heart Hospital also houses a 24-bed cardiac step-down unit for surgical patients, a 34-bed step-down unit for non-surgical patients, a post-surgical recovery area, intensive care unit and six general operating Suites. Collectively, these facilities form the foundation of a complete surgical care center, and allow for future services and expansion.

The Heart Hospital also provides comprehensive rehabilitation programs to help patients embrace the lifestyle changes required to maintain good health after their treatment. Customized programs, with both inpatient and outpatient services, are offered under the supervision of our trained medical staff.

Combining personal attention, planning, a highly qualified team of cardiac care experts and modern facilities, the Heart Hospital provides world class care, close to home.
