What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Scholars Tea
Scholars Tea , co-sponsored with the Alpha Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., recognizes minority middle school students within the Columbus Public School system that have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Columbus Public School children’s names are submitted by their school counselor for the recognition. Each spring the greater Columbus area joins us in celebrating our youths academic accomplishments.
Scholarship
Scholarships are the primary means by which ASOEF carries out it’s mission and vision. One service that has endured over time is the awarding of Scholarships. The Foundation has the responsibility of raising funds to support the various programs to assist students in achieving their goals. ASOEF awards more than $25,000 in college scholarships and continuous education grants annually.
Akadette
The purpose of the AKAdette Club is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards to help alleviate problems concerning black young women. The club offers guidance to high school girls (grades 9-12) and helps develop interests in higher education and learn to be of service to all mankind. This mentoring program focuses on providing educational, social and leadership development as the club members complete community service throughout the year.
School Supply Drive
For the Achieving Standards of Excellence Foundation’s school supply drive, done twice yearly, we identify either elementary schools or social service organizations serving families in high poverty areas. We either partner with the organization (in both collecting and distributing the supplies) or just donate the supplies that we have collected to the organization for their dispersal through their regular procedures.
