What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Tully Area Historical Society Museum
We preserve, accession & research items donated to the historical society that are a part of the history & heritage of Tully, NY & vicinity.
Local & Genealogical Research
We research all queries sent to us related to the people & our area. The results are preserved for future use in our research library. We accept donations for this service.
Christmas at the Station
Craft show presented to the public over the 3 day weekend after Thanksgiving every year. Includes handcrafted items made by an average of some 40 vendors. Our volunteers setup/teardown the displays, staff the event, process sales & distribute payments at the end.
Tully Ice Harvest
In co-ordination with the New York State Draft Horse Club, the Tully Area Historical Society presents annually an Ice Harvest event where ice is collected from one of our local kettle lakes. Local volunteers prepare & score the ice using the actual ice harvesting tools from our museum. The ice is stored locally in an original ice house & is used in the preparation of ice cream for the Community Fair.
Tully Community Fair
Annually, the society manages a community fair that includes goods sold by local businesses & vendors, a parade, local & occasionally music provided by the Tully school. Although, the Tully Rotary, Tully Hose Co. & the Tully Action Group all take part, the historical society manages it.
Tully Consignment Shop
The society owns, maintains & staffs a second-hand consignment shop in our sister building, the old Tully Methodist Church with whom we share a parking lot. Local people bring clothing & household items to be sold at a discounted price to the general public. A portion of the sale is retained by the seller & the society receives a percentage.
Twice Read Bookstore
The society has a second-hand bookstore of books & magazines in exceptional condition that are donated to us by the general public. We sell most of these at an incredibly low price.
