Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to end pet-overpopulation and the suffering it causes, including animal neglect, abuse, and homelessness in Humboldt County, California.

We are pursuing our goal by making affordable spaying and neutering for dogs and cats available throughout Humboldt County. We are also addressing animal homelessness by providing foster care and adoptions for homeless cats and kittens, and occasionally for dogs and puppies. We provide education on responsible pet ownership and support for the people we serve.

We provide low-cost spaying and neutering for approximately 3,800-4,500 dogs and cats each year. Of the animals we service each year, approximately 900-1,000 are feral/stray community cats and their offspring.

We have seen a significant euthanasia reduction in Humboldt County, however our work must be ongoing in order to continue to make progress and have lasting results. In the most recent year we have added low-cost wellness care and basic illness treatment to serve the most vulnerable community members. We have also increased our foster program intake to lessen the amount of stray and abandoned animals in the community. We hope to continue to grow and expand our services to serve even more animals and save more lives.
