Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The problem we are addressing is economically-challenged breast cancer patients in North Carolina that do not have the means to pay for their life-saving medical treatment.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Medical treatment for economically disadvantaged NC breast cancer patients
In order to provide this treatment, the Organization has formed a network of local medical professionals and health care organizations such as hospitals, clinics, cancer centers, surgeons, oncologists, and radiation oncologists who volunteer or offer services at significantly reduced rates.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our intent is to ensure that every woman (or man) diagnosed with breast cancer in North Carolina does not have a financial barrier to medical treatment.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our strategy to make this happen is to:\n1) Find the candidates that need our help. We will ensure that the medical systems, county health departments, social workers and medical professionals that treat and interact with breast cancer patients know about us and our services, and refer candidates to us.\n2) Qualify the applicants. We will have proven procedures and processes to ensure that those receiving our service are US citizens, North Carolina residents, earn less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Level, and are in active treatment for breast cancer. \n3)Fund the candidates that need our help. We will ensure that we engage in fundraising activity and grant proposals to raise the funds needed to pay medical bills directly to medical service providers, ensuring that the patients we serve are, in fact, receiving treatment.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Since 2004, we have developed processes and procedures to quickly move patients through the application process, the approval process, and the payment process to ensure that medical treatment is received in a timely manner. From application complete to bills paid can be as short as 48 hours.\n\nWe have electronic tools and databases to collect, store, and analyze patient demographics, treatment, and funding. We have electronic tools and databases to collect, store, and analyze donor information to help us economically target fundraising campaigns.\n\nWe have a board of directors that includes three physicians (2 breast oncology surgeons and a radiologist) that review and approve each application. In 2022, we served 408 breast cancer patients in North Carolina.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
So far we have served over 2,000 breast cancer patients in North Carolina and connected them with more than $75M in mostly-donated medical services.
