Oasis Project
Having worked throughout the years with missionaries working diligently in various countries, the leadership of 3SC has focused their efforts on creating “oasis” communities of believers, based on the example of the early Church. Partnering with a ministry already established in a country, 3SC provides seven elements needed for a community to achieve stability and maximize its ability to reach out to the surrounding community. Before these communities can be created, the immediate needs must be satisfied, trust created and established, and communities stabilized. Next, after relieving immediate needs, 3SC aims to identify the appropriate partners to enable and empower the community to provide for itself clean water, a micro economy, sustainable food sources, education, medical care, electricity, discipleship, and, by extension, HOPE. The end result will be a community that can be self-sustained and productive and can assist in duplicating the same results in a neighboring community.
As part of the goal of creating “oasis” communities, 3SC has partnered with Kids Against Hunger and Change This World to provide meals to those overseas as well as a way to engage those in the local community. Packing events can be held with as few as 10 or 15 people and each event helps to alleviate the hunger that is rampant around the world.
Short Term Mission Teams
Three Strand Cord supports local churches within the United States who have long assisted overseas missionaries by sending short-term teams to aid work being accomplished in international locations. Through short-term missions teams, construction, medical, and evangelistic programs can be undertaken beyond the capacity of the missionary acting alone. Recognizing the power of the work done by these teams, the program identifies unfilled needs and finds funding and materials to meet those needs. In addition, Three Strand Cord pools the knowledge acquired through these projects to aid teams in maximizing effectiveness. Once the mission trips are completed, 3SC also maintains relationships with the in-country missionaries, as possible.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Three Strand Cord is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that creates self-sufficient communities in developing countries in a very proactive, collaborative and cooperative way. We facilitate the development of the systems, leadership and infrastructure needed for a community to be self-reliant. Ultimately, we exist to engage these communities with the active and transformational love of the Lord, and we hope to empower people to rely on God alone.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Oasis Project is designed to create independent communities by setting into motion the Wheel of Self-Sufficiency. This wheel has seven spokes: clean water, renewable food, appropriate education, a viable economy, available medical care, reliable power, and biblical discipleship. In each community, the projects are dictated by the community needs as well as the accessible resources available for working solutions to those needs.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
What makes us different is our commitment to partnership, partnership with the local organization and partnership with organizations already working with excellence in areas of need.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
At this time, most of our community impact data is anecdotal. However, from what we have collected, significant in-roads are being made to moving communities towards self-sufficiency through revenue development strategies and leveraging key partnerships.
