TOM Tikkun Olam Makers

TOM (Tikkun Olam Makers) is an Israeli-Jewish-American-global nonprofit social enterprise designed to support the creation and distribution of open-source, radically affordable and accessible solutions. These solutions cater to the neglected needs of people living with disabilities, the elderly and the poor.

TOM specializes in frugal innovation around the needs of people who are structurally excluded and most vulnerable at the ‘bottom of the ladder’, who are often elderly, poor or living with disabilities with no purchasing power.

TOM’s ground-breaking economic model builds on crowdsourcing talent of engineering and product-developers who collaborate through human-centered open innovation to digitize open-source solutions (without IP), which are deposited online. TOM Solutions can be downloaded and manufactured locally by simple makerspaces with 3D printers (distributed manufacturing), thereby decreasing cost of products to users by 80%-99%!
